2nd entry for the day..

nothing much to blog today.. just caught the movie "into thin air - death on everest" shown on channel 5.. cool show i think.. it shows the grit and determination of some climpbers and convincingly depicted how complacency led to the downfall, and even deaths, of some others.

rather inspiring show..

anyway, just wanna intro this peice of music here. its in spanish and i have no idea wat its singing. but well, feel that it sounds cool and kinda soothing.. got to learn of this song thru a fren of mine.. thnx! u noe who u are!

alrite den.. boring blog, aint it? tmr going navy open house.. yea! but gotta gif my kick ball session a miss.. sigh.. haven seen my bunch of sec sch buds for a long time man..

had a loooong day man..

met up with steph in town earlier for our video shoot for RSVP. (recently got involved in this video production for this particular non-profit org. - which stands for Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme. supposed to do a semi-documentary kinda thing for them. so far, still quite fun la.. learnt alot.)

after loitering discreetly and trying to act as tourists with our cam ard orchard and heeren area, we took a few shots and decided to call it day as the crowd is growing. no more good shots.

slacked and chatted with steph at taka's yoshinoya till one of the staff chased us out cuz there's no more seats available and apparently we were done with our drinks. damn pai seh man.. we den made our way to the galleria (the duty free shop opp far east plaza) and checked out some perfume.. even though its duty free but they still cost a bomb man. how i wish cigarettes cost as much so that there will be no more smokers.

after dat, sent steph off at the bus stop and made my way to meet my sec sch frens! wow.. these are my lower sec classmates man.. haven seen some of them for a darn loooong time.. one of them 6 years! he's a good 'ol kinda guy who left s'pore in 1998 (sec 1) and i haven seem him since!

kinda nice gathering i feel.. catching up stuffs and all.. most of them actually went to JCs and are abt to embark upon their uni lives.. haha.. think of those days when we were still in lower sec, learning basic algebra, getting excited over chapt 11 of our science textbook and getting into trouble with certain teachers for accusations of not respecting them and ended up writing 500-words letters of apology.. with these vivid memories in my mind, i somewhat cudnt recog them when i first saw them. time really flies! no longer those kids i used to know man.. all of them seem much more matured, pseudo war-hardened veterans after battling thru 10+ years of our so-called "well-rounded yet extremely competitive and rigorous education system". they are the "heros" who survived. kudoz especially to those who went thru "their baptism of fire" after completing a hellish 2-years "A levels" course.

well, to me A levels = "if no uni, u r screwed". it is also equivalent to: "if u end up with a screwed cert and posted to some 'dumping ground' uni course, u are screwed to the power of infinity". what's the point then? what's the pt of mugging like cock when either way u are screwed? of cuz there are straight As students and these are definitely si beh solid, si beh zai, pro muggers. but how abt those who cant make the mark? i'm sure those with mediocre or below average results make up a large population of the JC cohort. and these results are definitely obtainable by poly counterparts if they go thru the same drills JC students went thru. so y isit tat they(jc muggers) are so special to be able to attend tv programmes to get upclose with ministers and govt big shots? is it becuz these exposures can help them in their damn shiong-GP paper? how abt poly students? y dun we get a chance to do tat too? and why isit tat a jc grad has got two freaking months to choose their tertiary education paths while an O level grad has got only four miserable days (the joint admin exercise usually lasts no more den five days) to choose the next important step of their lives?

sad to say many Os students thus made a grave mistake by hastily choosing their course of study in poly, only to realise later that they regretted choosing the wrong course.. this is something really serious cuz it involves huge sums of money(sch and tuition fees and such) and a lot of precious time wasted on a youth as he loses his chance to learn new things while waiting to gain entry into another course. worst, some even decided tat poly, together with studying, is not for him and stopped schooling indefinitely..

something more ironic here:
at 16 or 17 years-old, a fresh sec 4/5 grad has to decide for himself wat kinda route he choose to take. an engineer? a life sciences professional? a designer? or a jc mugger? well, he has four days to decide.
on the other hand, 18/19 year olds young adults, who went thru the ever-so-shiong GP paper, which is supposedly to make them more aware of current affairs, world happenings and hopefully make them realise where their interests lies, have got two full months to make that similar decision for themselves.
oh, so u mean a 16 year old, equipped with a pass in O level english, which teaches u comprehension passages and writing summaries, can make swifter and better life-long decisions compared to an 18 year old who learns and writes about global economy and the middle-east conflicts?

pls, somebody enlighten me.

ok la, enough of crap. still, it was a nice gathering. here's wishing everyone present at the gathering, no matter from JC or not, all the best in wadever ya ppl do!

cheers!

Phewz!

i passed all my modules! damn heng sia.. had nightmares of taking the supp paper sometime back man...lucky!!

wow.. been weeks since i last blogged! heard from my lecturer few days ago that the lifespan of a blog is usually no more than 8 months.. haha.. i wonder if mine will ever last tat long.. but i'll try! =)

well, been out almost everyday since exams ended. initial reason was to find a vacation job but apparently i'm neither handsome nor chio enough to take up certain sales position and i resort to selling a day of some coupons for a particular f&b (food and beverages) company in the name of charity. sounds familiar?

yeah, those damned jokers who go around the streets bugging and pestering people to buy their coupons. worst of all, some even claimed that they belong to some unknown marketing and advertising company. i should say that these bunch of jokers are psychotic, mindless and brainwashed assholes who believe that they can make a living outta selling these coupons. to a certain extent, the income system they follow is very similar to multi-level marketing, or MLM. once they start off as an entry level salesperson, they will need to go around the island selling coupons. for every booklet of coupon they sell, they will be given a specified amount and the more u sell, the more attractive the amount becomes.

thus, these psychotic, mindless and brainwashed assholes will try their every mean to make u buy their coupons as long as they sell a minimum of ONE booklet, which consists of 10 coupons. once they done that, they get the money. anything more is bonus.

best part: promotion. gaining a level up is easy, according to some of them. the first criteria is to sell a minimum of 16 booklets (160 coupons) within a week. once they hit 16, they will have a place to attend a so-called "leadership course" to become "team leaders". apparently, more intense brainwashing takes place. this time round, they engage in more convincing topics like business management and leadership (well, "101 ways of disturbing ppl on the streets" and "how to identify ppl in a hurry and irritate the hell out of them" are most likely the topics they cover). they piss me off man.

after "team leaders", they rise up the ladder to become "managers". by this time, they should already have a strong and solid base of psychotic, mindless, brainwashed assholes who goes around, yah, sell coupons, lor. these "managers" can then slack for all they want as they will get to claim a certain amount, say 2 bucks, for every booklet sold by those under his charge.

so this bunch of psychotic, mindless, brainwashed assholes will exhaust every bit of their sweat and saliva to persuade ppl to buy the coupons in the hopes of becoming like their "managers" and these "managers" just need to slack as much as they want and collect their cash at the end of the week.

wow.

if systems like this prevails in our society, wun be surprised if everyone becomes experts in taking "short cut routes" and turning lazier and lazier.

why?

well, the bugger who sells coupon may say, "all i need to do is to sell 16 booklets and go for the training. once i become a manager, i can slack and wait for money to roll in!!"

for a multi-level marketer: "just need five downlines and if every downline finds me five more downlines, and these downlines finds me more downlines, i can just sit at home and count the money!"

(pt to note: similar to the "manager" mentioned above, multi-level marketers earn money everytime a new downline is added into their scheme as usually, these ppl need to pay a sum of money, can be in terms of buying a bundle of products or simply, "membership fees". these ppl den rip off a little from every new downline added. so the more downline u have, the more $$ u earn.

therein lies the main difference b/w MLM and the coupon thingy as the latter need not pay anything to begin their downward "corporate ladder climb". thus this coupon thingy naturally appeals to sch leavers, dropouts and dumbasses like me who walked right straight into the lump of brown matter only to realise that its shit after stepping on it..)

ya right. so wat kinda person will it turn out to be if he/she is ingrained with such perpectives of making money? or even worse, carving out a career? do this and do this and if i can achieve that, i can just slack one corner and wait for $$ to come.

pardon me if u disagree, but nothing is so easy in this world man. how can u make sure that ur downlines find u more downlines, and those under ur charge sell as many booklets that make u enough money to live ur life?

wake up lah, brudda.

bottomline is, if u are stupid enough and have lotsa free time to spare, try the coupon selling thingy. if u stupid enough and have lotsa cash to spare, well, try MLM by all means.

all these can very well be opportunities to make more money, it wud never ever be a good idea to live on them.

i think frenster is so screwed.. its totally fooked up man. all of sudden, ur testimonials are missing, ditto to the pics u uploaded.. fook it.

but anyway, it has been a daily habit to log on frenster. i duno why but just for the kick of it. u knw, see if u've got new friends' request, new messages or even new testimonials. talking abt "testimonials", its really a mouthful, dun ya think so? tes-ti-mo-nials. and then we have ppl coming up with all sorts of short hands for it: test, testi, tesmonial and yeah, the ulitimate one: testis. i know there's something wrong with the spelling but who cares, as long as it sounds the same.

here's my point:
as usual, the login to frenster took six million years. some of my friends realised tat their testimonials were gone and frantically posted for help on the bulletin board (which made frenster even more laggy, as i was told). i was astounded when i saw this:

in bold red, the subject of the particular bulletin reads:
"help! frenster ate up all my testis!"

i duno if my fren did it on purpose, just punning (is there such a word?) the entire sentence, or he genuinely made a mistake in the words he used. (well, i tried to retrieve a print screen of the bulletin board to post it here. apparently, when i managed to log onto my home page which took me another six million years, the bulletin was gone. i guess he must had realised the "incredible pun". its a genuine mistake i believe, no pun intended.)

this kinda made my day. other den tat, today was an awwful day. extremely awwful. woke up sick and gotta give my kick ball session a miss. daarn it. it only comes once in a while to play soccer with my sec sch frens and of all days, i had to be sick.

just my luck. wat a day.

"ok, time's up. put down ur pens and remain where u are.."
wooooooooohoooooo!!!!!!!!! that marks the end of my exams!!! strictly speaking, this should be the last ever written exam paper in my entire poly life cuz for the following semesters, every module will be 100% project based...well, good thing or bad thing, we'll see in time to come.. for now, its RELAX, RELAX and RELAX...just pray hard and hope that i'll pass every single module.. yeah, just pass.. thats how screwed up this semester is.. sigh..

anyway, i think the LAN bug has got me again.. LAN GAMING!! BATTLEFIELD 1942! hahaha.. kinda addicted to it.. all thanks to chrisy shit who introed me this game when i joined them (05 guys) for LAN game sometime last week. And surprisingly, LAN gaming also got a bunch of DMC guys together...

after my paper, i joined the 05 guys for some makan and we headed for dhoby ghaut as the LAN shop is in tat area. after chowing KFC and on our way to the LAN shop, jethro rang me up and we joined the 03 gang. by this time, there was a total of 9 of us.. well, for the first time in poly life, i hanged out with a bunch of guys. well, u may find it weird but dun laugh, cuz u wun understand how unbalanced the sch's population is unless u are in here. this bunch of us, average age of at least 18.5 years old - which is of legal age to hold a rifle and die for our country, and also of legal age to sex and booze - talked cock and crapped our way to the LAN shop, and yeah, to play LAN games.. hahaha.. despite the fact that we're in the same course for 2 years, i can safely say that some of us had not had a conversation that lasted beyond 5 mins with each other. some of us dun even know really know each others' names!! but hey, who cares? we're all from DMC!!

i guess this is one good example to show how doing things together can get a group of people closer together.. hopefully more LAN gaming sessions to come!!

well, now that hols have started, shall spend more time to improve this blogsite and make it to be the way i want it to be!! haha..

bye!
