Nothing Beats the Centenary Parade...

WOW.

after a break of more den 2 years, i finally got back in touch with ncc when i went to watch the annual NCC Day Parade held earlier today at the safti MI..

met up with my ncc buddy,  mr pangster, at yishun and headed to boon lay. both of us were armed with cameras, hoping to "retrive' and relive some good old memories..haha..

so well, after waiting for abt six million years for bus service 193 (freaking long loh.. basket..), we reached safti at around 4 plus.. on the way there, we bumped into zaki, a "long time no see" fellow clt from 42nd intake..

and guess wat,  tat marked the start of the entire afternoon bumping into many, many other "long time no see" and "super long time no see" friends and clts. wah lao.. goes to show how long i've lost touch with the Corps already...

but the feeling to be back at safti was kinda nice man... brings back memories of those days when i was so involved in the Corps.

esp the year 2001 when ncc celebrated its 100th. a big parade was organised (they named it the Centenary Parade) and the venue was also at safti. tat was also the year tat i've made frens with a bunch of great ppl, and best of all, we were all involved in the big parade in one way or another...

well prior to the actual big parade, this bunch of us were actually back at safti almost every other weekend for hours and hours of rehearsals...was tough and tiring, but really had lots of fun... guess tats y going back to safti today really had memories came flooding back to my mind..

anyway, back to today's parade.

was not too bad actually la.. band was good, marching was pretty ok.. but i guess the level of discipline had really dropped drastically... from where we were standing, we could see ppl in the parade squatting down and feeling sick..

well its understandable tat ppl do peng san but i cant believe my own eyes when i saw this particular Guard of Honour squatting down and taking out his peak cap to fan himself.. wad the hell man?!?!

to me, if u are proud of the uniform u are wearing and proud of watever u are representing, u wun allow urself to fall..especially in this case when u are wearing the utmost prestigious uniform in the entire country.. sigh.. wadever happened man..

but all in all, parade aint the main thing today..

its those distant yet familiar faces, those friendly acknowledgements made, the many handshakes and "hows life man" and countless pats on our backs that made me relive those wonderful times i had in NCC..

and definitely, nothing beats the Centenary Parade!!
