a disastrous week..

first and foremost, we are extremely, ultimately, superduper SOFA-KING HENG to be in singapore.

a bloody 9.0 earthquake actually happened at somewhere less than a few hours flight away and our country has not even suffered a single crack!!

WE ARE SO BLESSED!

our strategic location put us safely surrounded by big islands and lands so much that it is close to impossible that we will feel the tremble of the quake. and by the time the tidal waves reach our shores, it has been already reduced to just a few inches high, due to the "resistance countered" by our surrounding big islands..

well, i guess we are literally in a "comfort zone".

so its no wonder that the people here also have the tendency to stay in their own comfort zones too.. sigh..

but seriously, treasure our island and learn to appreciate it man.. we are truly blessed to be safe and sound after such a huge quake.

Other news:

got my attachment company today. well, not really my first choice.. kinda disappointed..

but well, as one of my lecturers put it, and i ruffly quote it:

"even tho its not ur first choice, just apply whatever u had learnt during this period and do ur best.. u never know when that opportunity which could possibly be ur dream will present itself to you."

quite an optimistic outlook i should say, but yah.. rather encouraging word of advice..

make do with it and most impt thing of all, learn something out of it.. =)

tats all for now.. cheerioz all!

a wedding and a gathering.

woah.. kinda an eventful day for me..

woke up damn early today and went to my aunt's place cuz her second son, my cousin, is getting married.

bad thing was even tho we woke up early, we din reach the place on time. by the time we got there, the traditional tea ceremony was over. well, u knw where the newly weds offer tea to the elders?

they usually go, "ah ma, lim teh." (hokkien for: please have some tea, grandma)

and after tat, parents from both sides will give their respective offsprings some jewelleries and say that its the family heirloom and they must treasure it and they must pass it down to the next generation and bla bla ba...

and as a form of respect, newly weds also have to offer tea to other extended relatives, i.e uncles and aunties etc., in exchange for ang baos.

well, we were late. and my parents, who are one of the many uncles and aunties of the bridegroom, missed the tea ceremony.

damn pai seh.. tea ceremony is considered quite an impt event in chinese wedding and my parents missed it cuz we were bloody late!

sigh.. but nevertheless, my parents still gave them the ang bao la.. >_<

soon after we headed down to a hotel to witness their "holy matrimony".

apparently my cousin had converted into a christian, together with his wife.

finally came the food and after chowing i headed down to bishan for part 2 of the day: gathering with a grp of my sec sch frens.

its actually one of my fren, mr lim "handsome" fuxiang's bdae.

woah this guy has come a long way since sec sch days.. from a chubby, botak, sec one npcc recruit (yeah, one of my loggerheads) who was my partner during lower sec science lab lessons, to a fit and hunky part time model today.

blooody hell, wadever happened to me man... blame the hormones... :|

anyway, bunch of us met up at bishan Junction 8 (J8) and had dinner at thai express. food there was ok la..maybe i ordered the wrong food cuz it tasted absolutely bland.. or maybe i wasnt really hungry cuz already had my fill at the wedding ceremony earlier.

but the best part was the cake. a self-baked triple layered chocolate cheesecake!! kudoz to shingyee the chef!

it was heavenly man..

imagine having brownies with extra fudge, topped with a generous layer of cheese and complete with strawberry toppings..

sounds sinful but its ze perfect taste!
shingyee u better dun stop baking!! haha..

so after chomping down the cake, we took a little walk ard the new J8 b4 deciding to take a sip at a nearby kopitiam.

we sat there for close to 2 hours chit chatting abt everything under the sun, from driving lessons to movies to shingyee's cafe biz idea and even blogging!

conclusion: kopitiams are the perfect places for idle chats and tok cock sessions!!

yup.. left bishan close to 11pm and now back at home at the comfort of my room..

cant believe that i've actually typed so much..haha.. sorry arh ur eyes shud be quite strained at this pt of time..

but still, thnx for reading!!

tats all for now... bye!

photos galore.

just got back my photos today. yup, the photos tat i took during the yunnan trip. six freaking rolls of it!! and it cost me 75 bucks!!

well, to make things worse, i'm rather disappointed with the results. those shots that i looked forward to were either over or underexposed.. some of the framing was totally off.. and the colors all came out extremely flat!! damn..really bad..arghh..its once in a lifetime kinda thing tat i get to go for trips and i screwed up the photos!

i must shoot more! i must read more! i must train! TRAIN!!

------------------------------------

Also caught the movie, Taxi, today. Not bad a show actually.

its abt how this screwed-up cop got to knw this funky cab driver who drives a taxi which has the capability to transform into a racing car equivalent. the transformation abit cock la.. like press one button den the wheels change. press another button the speed booster comes up. cartoon sia...

den together they managed to bust a group of highly-trained bank robbers, coupled with some high speed "Torque-like" car chasing scenes. (apparently the grp of robbers also drive a cool BMW and they speed off after every robbery.)

basically the plot is damn simple. a no brainer in fact. but the jokes are kinda funny... really cracked me up man..

overall, 3 stars out of 5!!

yup.. thats abt it for ma day.. next week sch reopens.. sianz!!

P.S: Eileen, thnx for today! =)

i'm back from zhong guo!

yup i'm back! safe and sound, still in one piece..

thnx to those who missed me (if there's any..haha) and asked abt me.. appreciate it!

well, not gonna blog much abt the trip cuz it aint really a good one.. its only 20 percent of wat i've really signed up for..sigh..

nevertheless, it was a great learning experience.. for those who took the module "understanding cross cultural diversity (UCCD)", its really UCCD in action! shall "story" u ppl if there's a chance.. :)

anyways, some of the pics are up.. do check them out!
